A New Community Strategy for Swindon

The New Swindon Community Strategy, 'A Shared Vision for Swindon' document was launched at the Swindon Strategic Partnership Conference on 8th February 2008.

A video containing some of the views and comments of local people is also available. To view the video, please visit the Shared Vision Video page.

Between July and September 2007, many hundreds of local people gave us their views on the draft document.  They did this in a number of ways:

  • by completing an on-line questionnaire linked from this site;
  • by sending in the form at the back of the Vision booklet;
  • by visiting our stand at one of 17 roadshows; or
  • by offering to be interviewed by our roving reporters from Your Film.

If you were one of the people who contributed, may we offer our sincere thanks to you for sparing your time to contribute to this vitally important document.

A Shared Vision for Swindon – Community Strategy Action Plan – Year 1 June 2008 to May 2009

As the “Shared Vision” is a long term strategy, an action plan to achieve this will be developed on an annual basis with input from the voluntary and community sector, private businesses and organisations and the relevant public sector partners in the Swindon area.  This is the first of these annual action plans.  It also includes areas for development over the next 3-5 years.

The key to a successful Community Strategy is genuine involvement and ownership by local people.  We hope, therefore, that your group or organisation will be able to make a contribution to the plan in some way for this and future years.

It is anticipated that this plan will be reviewed and discussed at the next Swindon Strategic Partnership Conference.  This will give us the opportunity to develop a more comprehensive action plan for 2009 and beyond.
