Swindon Borough Council's current Local Transport Plan (2001 to 2006)

The Council produced a summary leaflet for their Local Transport Plan 2001 to 2006.  It sets out how the problems were identified through consultation and monitoring, the development of the strategy, outlines specific schemes which it was hoped would be addressed over the five-year plan and how much funding it felt would be required to undertake all that work.

The Council's current Local Transport Plan (2001 to 2006) is organised under three headings:

Providing Real Choices - which puts emphasis on improving access for all, to public transport, cycling and walking whilst seeking to reduce dependency on the car.

Managing the Network - which seeks to increase the efficieny of the existing network, maintain it to a suitable standard, and improve safety.

Complementary Strategies - which integrate transport planning with development plans, development control, environmental initiatives and public awareness campaigns.
