North East Cluster Week of Action
The North East Cluster held a week of action between the 15th and the 19th of August 2011. During the week officers from various agencies including Swindon Borough Council and the Police were in your area tackling issues such as litter, graffiti, fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour. Enforcement agencies were also out and about carrying out various actions.
As part of the week of action the Swindon Safe Bus and the Bobby Van was in the locations listed here.
Love your bicycle in the week of action - Lots of people came and see us for free security marking and bike registering and advice on how to keep your bike safe. We can also offered free advice on cycle routes and organised cycle outings.
Highworth Community Centre
The Highworth Community Association opened the new Highworth Community Centre (formerly Northview School) on Saturday 11th June . Lots of people came along and see what will be on offer at the new centre.
The building was handed over to the community on the 1st June 2011, less than 12 months after the concept was developed to provide a community led solution to the school closure. The facility will be playing host to faith groups, informal learning, historical societies, music and film groups, as well as having the capacity for one off bookings for meetings and occasion, everyone involved has worked really hard to create a community focussed outcome.
Intergenerational Project
We are currently working with a local artist to develop an art-based project which will bring together older and younger people in the Meadowcroft area. If you would like to know more call Pam Gough on 01793 463140.
Fox Roundabout
The Council is in discussion with Highworth Town Council about the development of the Fox Roundabout. Further discussions are being held around the funding and the future plans for the project.
North East Cluster Parish/Town Council meeting
A meeting was held on Monday 1st February 2010 at Stratton St Margaret Parish Council offices. The meeting was attended by representatives of Stratton St Margaret and Covingham Parish Councils and Highworth Town Council. Each Council identified something that they would like to work together on through CPCP.
North East Cluster Engagement Events
The first North East Engagement Event was held in Covingham on Thursday October 29th 2009 at The Messenger public house, people came along to give their views about their local area.
