Swindon Foster Carers Needed... especially carers willing to foster older children and teenagers.

Swindon Borough Council's Foster Carers play a critical role in the lives of our community's most vulnerable children and young people. All these individuals make a positive and lasting difference to children and young people's lives.  Swindon Borough Council has approximately 155 'Foster Families'. Barnardo's Big Toddle fundraising event - Wednesday 29th June 2011

The Barnardo's Big Toddle took place on 29th June at RLK Primary School.  It was a short sponsored walk for toddlers and their families, with fun animal activities along the way. The event was for families with children aged 0-5 years and toddlers dressed up as their favourite creature for the day. More information on the Big Toddle is available here. Home and Away  Overnight Short Breaks for Children with Disabilities

Swindon Borough Council's Home & Away Scheme provides overnight short breaks to children with disabilities.  According to government statistics there are 3690 disabled children living in Swindon.  Home & Away is a family based care scheme which was set up to enable children with disabilities to enjoy short breaks away from home on a regular basis.  Short break carers give parents a much needed rest from caring for their child and an opportunity for the child to gain independence and widen their horizons......  the full article is available here along with how to find out more information about becoming a Home and Away short break carer.
