Two Swindon Travel Choices schemes on show - Friday 25th May and Saturday 26th May 2012
As part of the Swindon Travel Choices project, which aims to encourage opportunities for walking and cycling to work in Swindon town centre, a public exhibition focusing on two schemes is taking place in late May 2012. This will give you an opportunity to find out more about an upgrade of an existing cycle route from West Swindon, via Bruce Street Bridges and North Star to the town centre, known as the Western Flyer. The second scheme concentrates on improving pedestrian and cyclist access in the town centre, focused primarily on the Regent Circus and Princes Street area.
This exhibition will be held at Swindon Central Library (Regent Circus, Swindon SN1 1QG) from 14:00-19:00 on Friday 25th May 2012 and from 10:00-14:00 on Saturday 26th May 2012. A further event for the Western Flyer scheme will also be held in West Swindon in mid-June 2012.
Further information on the other initiatives being delivered through the £4.8million Swindon Travel Choices programme can be found on its stand-alone website www.swindontravelchoices.co.uk . Residents Parking Review of Zones A and F
A drop in event for local residents to help review the existing parking arrangements within their neighbourhood is being held. We would like to seek volunteers to act as a lead for their street, help co-ordinate views from their neighbours to feed back to the Council who can then draft a revised scheme for the whole of the parking zone with a view that once a scheme has been approved, this would be implemented later in the year.
For residents living in parking Zone F area a meeting is being held at The Clifton Arms, Clifton Street on Wednesday 14th March 2012 from 6.00 - 7.00 pm.
For residents living in parking Zone A area a meeting is being held at the Town Centre Library on Tuesday 20th March 2012 from 6.00 - 7.30 pm.
Local Councillors will be at both meetings to discuss any concerns residents may have and officers will be able to discuss how local people can get involved and help move this project forward.

Kingshill Crossing Trial - Sunday 4th February 2012 - Sunday 18th February 2012
Conversations have been held with local residents in the Kingshill neighbourhood, where residents have identified the need for an additional crossing point towards the top end of Kingshill Road (Bath Road end).
Local surveys of traffic and pedestrian use of the road were undertaken last year and were followed up by other surveys by the Council. The outcome of these surveys formed the basis of a discussion between Ward Members and officers from Highway Management Network. It has been agreed that a trial refuge crossing point be installed for two weeks to look at its impact to traffic flow and pedestrians crossing the road.
The trial crossing point will be installed on Sunday 4th February 2012.
Once the trial has been completed, the learning from this will help inform the next steps on whether it is practical for a crossing point to be installed thereafter.
