Conferences There were two successful Conferences held during 2006.The first took place in June 2006 at Oakfield Campus in Swindon. The focus of this conference was the Local Area Agreement and workshops on the day covered the four cross cutting themes of the LAA which are:
For more information and feedback from the June 2006 Conference please see related pages. The second conference took place in November 2006 at Oakfield Campus in Swindon. The focus of this conference was the New Sustainable Community Strategy, workshops on the day covered the 8 components of the New Strategy. We also launched the Climate Change Action Plan 2006-2010 for Swindon Borough this was launched by Professor Geoff Hammond of the SSP and the University of Bath and Peter Madden, Chief Executive from Forum for the Future. We had a several lively presentations during the day which encouraged discussion and debate, please see related pages to view the agenda for the day and relevant presentations. June 2007 saw another highly successful conference where the consultation on Swindon's New Community Strategy and the update to the Swindon Compact were both launched. The day included lively updates from the Block Chairs of the LAA and workshops on Neighbourhood Management and the Community Strategy consultation. The second conference of 2007 had to be deferred to February 2008. The focus of the day was the launch of the New Community Strategy. June 2008 saw another busy month for the Swindon Strategic Partnership which included the Conference on the 12th. Over 120 delegates attended representing local businesses, voluntary and community agencies, parish and local councillors, our strategic partners and statutory bodies. The agenda for the day was exciting and varied and included: final updates for LAA1 from Block Chairs; keynote speakers from the Audit Commission informing the audience on the Comprehensive Area Assessment and what it will be mean to Swindon when it is launched in 2009.
