Getting started on the New Community Strategy

The consultation for the new document started at the SSP Conference in November 2006.  Workshops on the day looked at the eight components from the Government.  Information on the components for the Community Strategy are available by clicking the following link: Definition of Components they also looked at a vision and priorities for each component.

We wrote to all attendees from the Conference and asked them if they wanted to take part in the "bigger conversation".  With this in mind workgroup meetings took place in January, these groups looked at the vision and priorities which came out of the Conference and at delivery mechanisms for the priorities.

The outcomes of these workshops were combined with feedback from other recent consultations to give the text of 'A Vision for Swindon 2008-2030'.

Consultation timetable

July to September 2007

Local people, stakeholders and representatives of partner organisations were invited to give their views on the draft of the new Community Strategy.

October to November 2007

All of the comments, suggestions and ideas were analysed and used to draft the final version.

February 2008

The final version of the Community Strategy was be launched at the SSP conference this month.
