What is the Swindon Strategic Partnership?

The Swindon Strategic Partnership brings organisations together such as Swindon Borough Council, the police, learning, health, town & parish councils and representatives from business, voluntary and community groups.  It aims to ensure that there is a joined-up approach across all agencies, when future strategic direction, aimed at improving the quality of people's lives in Swindon, is being set.

Swindon Strategic Partnership Overview & Monitoring Group

Swindon Strategic Partnership (SSP) now has a changed role, it is now an Overview and Monitoring Group. The purpose of the Group is to promote improvements to the economic, social and environmental well-being of Swindon and to contribute to sustainable development and enhance quality of life in the Borough.

The main focus of the group is to provide leadership and direction to the network of partnerships in the Borough of Swindon and to promote effective communication across the network, encourage innovative thinking to tackle cross-cutting themes and promote synergy and coherence between partners.

The group has range of roles and along with Policy development they also have specific responsibility for things such as:

The group also organises two SSP Swindon Forum conferences each year

The Chair of the group has monthly meetings with the Chair of the Local Area Agreement (LAA) Partnership Board.  The LAA Board is the accountable body for the main delivery of the LAA and is chaired by the Leader of the Council. Representatives from many of the main statutory bodies sit on this Board ie: Police, Fire, PCT, Hospital Trust along with Learning Skills Council, Voluntary Action Swindon, Job Centre Plus and the Chairs of the four LAA Blocks.
