Professional Development

Swindon

Swindon’s Local Education Authority is committed to providing a planned, coherent Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme which meets the needs of individual schools, the LEA and national priorities.

Newly-qualified teachers are invited to an induction meeting with the LEA early in September and will be given details of courses and support available to them then.

An LEA CPD folder listing all courses available is provided to each school. You can contact the staff member in school with responsibility for co-ordinating CPD to view the information in the folder.  Courses are offered on a wide range of topics from Special Education Needs to Health and Safety and for everyone from NQTs, through to subject co-ordinators, middle managers and head teachers.

Professional development opportunities continue as your career progresses through a variety of providers. The LEA advisory team work closely with partner LEAs to provide courses accredited by the University of Bath and the University of Gloucestershire.
